Korean High School Life

Um.. few days ago my friend shared this video about Korean High School life.

It’s like a documentary video from a girl who studied/attending at High School in South Korea after she had graduated her High School in America. Her name is Kelly.

She said how intense Korean High School students was, the student have study for 16 hours a day. Yeah, 16 hours!

In Middle School, school ends at 4:30PM but High school ends at 9:30PM. Uwoooohhh~!!!

Um, actually this isnt my first time hearing about that.

Few months ago I met a Korean High School student in twitter, named Kim Ju-Yeon. She likes Matsuken (like me) and she really nice. She even sent me some Matsuken stickers via air mail ^^

I ever asked about her High School life and her uniform. Bcos if I watch Korean drama, they have a cute uniform like in Japan.

She said "Every year in March 2nd is every Korean schools’ new grade day, with (usually) 40 students per class.

In Korea, most high school is start at 8AM. And we can go to home at 10PM. 8AM~6PM is time to listen classes and 7PM~10PM is  time to do self study. So Korea’s high school is finished at 10PM ^^”

I got shocked when she said that her school finished at 10PM! I even asked her how she got home, is her parents pick her or not. She said "Yeah, My parents pick me up often^^ But if my parents be busy, I have to go home alone… :( Sometimes, going home alone is scary.!"

Oh my~

When I was in high school, my school started at 6:30AM and finished at 2:30PM!!

She sent me her uniform photos few days later. They have 3 different uniforms following the seasons.

Ok, back to that video.

"When I was in middle school.. one of my friends, one grade higher than me committed suicide. She was good at studying but, she just got too much stress from studying so, she decide to end her life and she died." said a Korean girl in that video.

Yeah, stress in youth could make someone committed to suicide. It’s quite often happened in Korea bcos their parents really push them to study hard and they got a lots stress and pressure.

Um, I think it isnt only happened in Korea but another country too. When people got a lots stress/pressure and they didnt have someone to shared or depend, they would committed to suicide. Not only a high school student but all generations, I think.

And another issues in Korea esp high school students is the definition of beauty.

Who is beautiful? Why is that person beautiful? What makes someone beautiful? What is beauty?

One student answered "Vanessa Hudgens is beautiful, because she has big eyes."

Yup! they love “big eyes”, its like a parameter for a beautiful girl in Korea.

When I (or maybe you) think that small eyes is cute, some Korean high schooler said that small eyes is old fashioned.

There’s any a tool which popular in Korean high schooler to make their eyes looks bigger, named Sang-Kuh-Pul. It’s like a glue for eyelid, so their eyes will be bigger than before. (u can see the demonstration at 8:05)

And what a shocked me is.. she can makes it (bigger-ing her eyes) using a pen!!! O.O

Oh my God! isnt it dangerous? u can hurt ur eyes, dear! *shocked

When Kelly asked, "Is most people doing it with Sang-Kuh-Pul?" they answered, "No, I did surgery, plastic surgery!"

"Before, I was ugly, but now I’ve become pretty. My mom likes me. She says I’m pretty.

Before, not once since I was born. Not once did she say I was pretty but now she says I am pretty.”

Oh my God!!! *shocked

Ok, we already know that plastic surgery is popular in Korean, most of the girls or boys or even K-Pop idols did plastic surgery.

But, I never know that.. theres any a mom who never says “You’re pretty” to her daughter since she was born. And.. she says it when her daughter did plastic surgery? Oh, my gosh! O.O

Um, btw, I wrote about suicide and “big eyes” issues only based on that video. If I made some mistakes, please forgive and corrected me.

And I just want to say to all the girl in the world that.. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!

So, please.. love urself!

Thank you for reading and sorry for my bad English ^^;;

Bye~ ^^
